Hey Code Red,
Today was the end of week 2 and the team has made great progress so far. Assembly and machining were able to complete the frame today and gearboxes and chains should be added on Tuesday when we come back to build. Acquisition worked on testing different wheel compressions and roller placement. Indexer has finished their CAD and is now working with Acquisition and Shooter to figure out where they will be mounting. Shooting found the two angles they need to set the shooter to in order to shoot from the triangle and further back. Climber is currently working on fitting the winch in the final assembly, working out problems with the lift CAD and figuring out mechanical detachment options for their hooks. They were able to finish the latch design and their current system is 11lbs not counting the lift mount and winch mount. Best, Emily Klaben

Hey Code Red,
Currently everyone is working towards accomplishing to goals that are posted on the board in E16. Yesterday indexer began figuring out how they are going to be mounting to the frame. Climber worked with indexer to figure out how they are going to be mounting together. Also they got the lift CAD almost done, the hook pivot attached to the lift but are still working on the latch for the hook, and the winch CAD was finished. Acquisition tested their prototype and are currently testing compression ratios and roller spacing. The visions team began integrating the code for the different systems and started troubleshooting problems. Machine team started building frame and should be done by the end of Friday. The entire frame should be assembled by the end of the day Saturday. Best, Emily Klaben Hey Code Red,
For the past week the different design teams have been working on designing their systems and building prototypes. Yesterday there was a general design meeting where we went over what each design team had learned and then as a team fit the different systems together to get a general idea of where each system will fit. Today the shooter and indexer prototypes were mounted together and tested and we were able to shoot balls reliably into the high goal from like 6 ft away and we got one ball into the inner goal from the edge of the triangle. There was also a lot of testing done with the ball acquisition and they are currently waiting for 3D printed wheels in order to have a more realistic test. Also the climbing team had a great discussion about what type of climber they will be going for. Over the next week they will be figuring out the specifics of their system and building a prototype. The frame was also finalized today and the drawings to start manufacturing have been started so on Monday or Tuesday machine team can start making frame. The control systems team has been able to accurately map our distance and angle to the goal. Also they have gotten the color sensor for the control panel to work. On Monday we will be having a quick team meeting to just recap what is going on with each subteam and system, then will be breaking up into different teams and continuing the good work that has been happening. For the past couple of days the team has been making a lot of progress on coming up with designs for the different subsystems. The ball handling team is in charge of making a mechanism to acquire, store and shoot the power cells. This team split the group into three groups each designing a different aspect. Each part has a general design and it is getting ready to start prototyping today. The climbing team is in charge of building a system to climb at the end of the game. They have brainstormed different hook ideas and have started prototyping them and are going to be working on brainstorming ideas for the system to reach the bar today. The spinner team is in charge of turning the control panel which is the colored wheel that needs to be turned a certain number or times and to a certain color. They have already made a beginning prototype for one design but are planning on prototyping other designs at build today. The field elements should be finished by the end of build today. Today was the first official day of build season! We started the day in York where we watched the live stream and read the game manual. Then after lunch we split up into strategy teams which all did a great job analyzing the game and deciding what to focus on. At the end of the day we came together to present each teams ideas, and ask questions. We were able to start building field and will continue over the next week. I already mentioned this before and at Kickoff, but as a reminder there is an optional Code Blue strategy meeting tomorrow at Rev from 11:00 to 4:00. If you are interested in the strategy for out robot please go we would love to have your input. Best, Emily Klaben |
