What is Code Red?
Founded in 2001, Code Red Robotics is a FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) robotics club based in Ithaca, New York. The team is composed of and led by Ithaca High School students with guidance and instruction from teachers and local community mentors. Each year, in addition to its thousands of hours of community service, Code Red members work together to create a robot that weighs 125 lbs. or less, carefully designed and built to play a complex game against other robots.

Why do FIRST Robotics Competition?
FIRST alumni have significantly higher outcomes in college and in STEM fields across the board. 100% of Code Red alumni go to higher education, with most of those going into STEM fields. Students learn crucial life skills such as communication, time management, and working in a group - skills that help them on the team and off. Additionally, members build important connections that they couldn't without the program.
When we surveyed Code Red members about what their favorite part of Code Red was, almost all said community. Code Red is a tight-knit and accepting group of students and adults working together with a common goal, and at the end of the competition, the students have created a community of hardworking problem-solvers.
