BTM's Note: 2020 season kickoff

1/4/2020

Hey Code Red,

Today was the first official day of build season!

We started the day in York where we watched the live stream and read the game manual. Then after lunch we split up into strategy teams which all did a great job analyzing the game and deciding what to focus on. At the end of the day we came together to present each teams ideas, and ask questions.

We were able to start building field and will continue over the next week.

I already mentioned this before and at Kickoff, but as a reminder there is an optional Code Blue strategy meeting tomorrow at Rev from 11:00 to 4:00. If you are interested in the strategy for out robot please go we would love to have your input.

Best,
Emily Klaben

This year's Open House and Tech Expo will be on February 10th, from 1:00 - 4:00 pm! It will be held in the IHS Technology Department. You can park and enter off of Lake Street. There will be plenty of balloons and signs marking the entrance!
We have a very exciting line up this year. Come for kid-friendly science and technology exhibits, like interactive DNA extraction, robot programming, slime-making, and more. We have community guests from Cornell and the Ithaca community at large!
You can also see Code Red creating our robot during build season, and take a tour of one of our build sessions.
Last year we had nearly 400 visitors from our community. Come on and join in on the fun!

Code Red Robotics' build season is continuing on strong! Despite a large snow storm, we still have members at Ithaca High School working on prototyping our subsystem designs. We've just started our first machining for a few of our mechanisms. After all sub-system teams have finished their prototyping, we'll be able to decide on the final design of our robot!

Happy Build Season Everyone!

The 2018 game has been announced!
The game this year is called FIRST Power Up. Here is a link that explains how this game works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZbdwYiCY74. The team is working on different designs to meet the different aspects of the game such as climbing, cube acquisition, and cube placement.

Now that we're in the swing of build season, students are working on designing the various aspects of our robot, and creating prototypes.

We're so excited to build our robot this year. Go 639!

Fundraising for World Championships

4/11/2017

Hello Code Red Robotics supporters and fans!
After our exciting win at the Hudson Valley Regional a few weekends ago, Code Red Robotics qualified to compete in World Championships, in St. Louis, MO!
The team is thrilled to be representing Ithaca High School at this competition. World Championships will be a formative and very educational experience for all students who attend. Beyond being able to see what they've worked on for so many hours, competing at a high level, students will also be able to interact with like-minded people from across the globe. World Championships will also give students the opportunity to meet with and explore technology related professionals in a new setting.
However, this is a difficult trip monetarily and logistically. We want to be able to bring as many of our students to this exciting and unique event as possible. In order to cover the costs of bussing, food and lodging, and registration, the team is working hard to raise money through a variety of fundraising activities.
If you are able to contribute to our crowd-funding campaign, please visit this link: http://bit.ly/2oDskN1
Rheonix has generously offered to match our crowd-funding efforts, dollar-to-dollar up to $5,000! We are currently two-thirds of the way to reaching our fundraising goal, but need your help to make it all the way!
We are very thankful for all of the support and enthusiasm shown by the Ithaca community and beyond after our win. We couldn't do it without the help of all of our supporters and fans!

Code red robotics to World Championships!

What an exciting week for everyone on the team! After a thrilling win, Code Red can confirm that we'll be attending World Championships in St. Louis, MO, on April 26th-29th! Stay tuned for more info about fundraising and the trip shortly.
Meanwhile, you can read this recap of what happened this weekend. There was a lot going on, so this is a great way to make sure you're caught up!
Code Red Robotics competed with our robot in two competitions this year. The Suffern, NY region
al event was our second competition. During the first day and a half of the competition, six randomly selected robots competed against each other in two teams until a ranking was established. You can review the game we played here: www.tinyurl.com/FRC-Steamworks
Then, the top 8-ranked teams chose two other robots to play with them in an alliance against each other top teams. Code Red Robotics, ranked 15th out of 48 at the end of the preliminary competition round, was chosen by the 8th ranked alliance. Despite seemingly unlikely odds, we defeated all other top alliances, and won the regional with highest score of the weekend. Code Red’s alliance partners were two high school teams from Flushing and Brooklyn, NY. This victory qualified us for the World Championships.
We also won an award celebrating its professionalism, interactions with other teams, and team structure. The award, known as the Gracious Professionalism award, also commends our volunteer work in the Ithaca community and our efforts to give young kids access to technology and science education.
