Team Update: 2020-21 Season

Code Red Robotics will be taking a community focus this year, taking on projects where the team can work on outreach and bringing STEM to the Greater Ithaca Area. We also will be reworking our offseason team structure to better optimize volunteering, outreach, and diversity on Code Red.

Last but not least, Code Red is excited to participate in many different FRC competitions this year, including Infinite Recharge at Home skills challenges and the Game Design challenge.

Recently, we had the great opportunity of reporter Brad Vivacqua coming down from Syracuse to do a short feature segment on our club. You can watch the segment here, or on the Spectrum News Central NY website.

What is Code Red?

Founded in 2001, Code Red Robotics is a FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) robotics club based in Ithaca, New York. The team is composed of and led by Ithaca High School students with guidance and instruction from teachers and local community mentors. Each year, in addition to its thousands of hours of community service, Code Red members work together to create a 125 lb. robot, carefully designed and built to play a complex game against other robots.

Why do FIRST Robotics Competition?

FIRST alumni have significantly higher outcomes in college and in STEM fields across the board. 100% of Code Red alumni go to higher education, with most of those going into STEM fields.
Additionally, when we surveyed Code Red members about what their favorite part of Code Red was, almost all said community. Code Red is a tight-knit and accepting group of students and adults working together with a common goal, and at the end of the competition, all the teams are friends.
